I spend a great deal of time in the Education sector throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Over the last 5 years I've had the privilege of speaking at many area colleges and universities as well as the honor of chairing the NH High Technology Council's Education Committee. What I have come to notice is that true innovation is never easy to achieve and is often even more difficult in higher education. This is why Fast Company's recognition of Southern New Hampshire University is such an extreme honor and well deserved.
Earlier this month, Fast Company released its list of the World's 50 Most Innovative Companies (not colleges but "companies"). A few "dark horse" companies that made the list are Google, Facebook, Amazon, PayPal, UPS, HBO, Amazon, and Starbucks (to name a few). Of the top 50 organizations, 49 of them were not colleges, universities, or schools of any kind. Southern New Hampshire University was ranked #12 and the only educational institution on the list. This amazing distinction was well worthy of public congratulations.
